Five Simple Ways to Enhance Your Life

Less Is More

We live in a culture where more is better. We are bombarded with messages signaling that our happiness will follow purchases of material goods, larger portions, not missing out on events, or that next social media post. But all of this adds up to clutter and plays a significant role in our unhappiness, stress, and exhaustion.

The answer? Less is more. For every activity or possession you take on, recognize what you need to do to open up that space. Simplify your possessions, activities, and relationships. Here’s a rule of thumb—if it energizes you, keep it. If it depletes you, consider disengaging or releasing it.

Live By Stage, Not Age

Over the past century, we have added about 3 decades to life expectancy making the period between about 45 and 70 one of great potential and growth. We are healthier than any other generation before and if we understand how to cultivate our vital health and energy anything is possible. But it’s critical to do one thing to live the promise of these added years.

It’s time to release the chronological number you have always associated with aging. Your age no longer defines you. Rather, live according to your stage of life—and thrive!

Be a Contribution

Studies show what we all know. When we give we reap far greater rewards. Contributions need not only be financial. Give of your time, share your talents, and yes, as circumstances allow, offer some of your treasure as well.

As Albert Schweitzer once said: “I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be happy are those who have sought and found how to serve”.

Beware & Befriend Your Gremlins

A Gremlin is a hyper-vigilant naysayer whispering in your ear. Gremlins serve an important function because they keep you safe from danger, embarrassment, risky situations, and more. Being Gremlins, they don’t know when it’s important FOR YOU to take a risk to push through. They often repeat old negative messages you may have heard growing up—messages that no longer serve you. Simply said, half the time you hear your Gremlins you probably need to shut them down.

Announce Your Intentions

Most of us live and work in ways that run counter to fulfilling our goals. Some of that is due to the rush of information and requests coming at us, and our inability to say No. If saying no is hard for you, or if sticking to goals has been a challenge, create your absolute Yes list and announce your intention. The more you talk about what you want to do or accomplish, the more allies you’ll attract. The rest, as they say, is history!
